OUT REACH
Reaching out to serve near and far is part of Spirit of Joy's mission. We strive to accomplish this through on-going support of local organizations, partner relationships and global outreach.
The Buffalo Food Shelf is close to the hearts and hands of many Spirit of Joy members. One of our members was instrumental in the remodeling of the food shelf to empower neighbors in need to select the food their families will eat. We collect food and funds for our local food shelf throughout the year. This is another GREAT inter-generational service event for couples, families, and groups.
Seeds of Hope is a ministry with a Family of Christ and the Lutheran Church of El Salvador that Spirit of Joy has been involved with since its inception. The primary purpose is to increase the access of Salvadoran children and youth to education as a means of equipping them for a brighter future, able to serve their families and communities. We sponsor children, serve in mission, and raise funds to assist the community.
Love in the Name of Christ - Big Woods is a collaboration of churches in the Buffalo, Maple Lake, and Annandale communities that empowers congregations to serve neighbors in need. Through a staff member at Love INC, needs are verified and then connected with over 50 local, state, and federal assistance programs. Love INC, Big Woods has a store in Maple Lake were neighbors in need can receive free clothing and everyone is welcome to shop. The proceeds help to fund the ministries. Many churches have a specialized ministry with Love INC. Spirit of Joy members serve as congregational contacts, raise funds, and assist with events.
ASON is an international service group that empowers church members to serve in the Domincan Republic and Ghana. In 20 years, over 900 people have served side by side and hand in hand to build a school, orphanage, and develop small businesses that raise up families. We have had members serve in the Dominican Republic, raised funds, sponsored children, and sold Bolga baskets.
